Review: Green Toys Tea Set

I’m always looking for ways to help my toddler develop her fine motor skills. That’s why I recently started looking into getting her a tea set. Tea sets aren’t just a fun toy for make-believe; they can be a useful tool for the development of several essential cognitive and motor functions. After a little research, I decided to try out the Green Toys Tea Set.

The Green Toys Tea Set comes with 17 pieces, all made with environmentally-friendly, 100% recycled plastic. It’s also FDA-certified with no harmful BPA, phthalates, or PVC, so it can be used for imaginative play or to serve real drinks.

Who Should Use This Product

Tea Sets are one of the classic make-believe toys. Who doesn’t remember setting all your stuffed animals in a circle with a teacup in front of each one? This product is perfect for parents who want to encourage their children to explore imaginative play.

But that’s not all. The Green Toys Tea Set is designed to promote the development of gross and fine motor skills, while also fostering critical developmental cognitive abilities like sorting and organizing.

That combination makes a tea set one of the best possible toys for toddlers. You might buy one primarily for fun, and it can undoubtedly provide plenty! But it’s also surprisingly educational.

What You Need to Know

Before I really dive into the details of my experience with the Green Toys Tea Set, let’s take a moment to look at what, exactly, you’ll be getting:

  • One teapot with lid: 4.5” in diameter, 3.5” tall
  • One sugar bowl with lid: 3” in diameter, 1.25” tall
  • Four teacups and one creamer: 2.25” in diameter, 1.75” tall
  • Four saucers: 4” in diameter
  • Four spoons: 4.25” long
  • 100% recycled plastic and 100% recyclable packaging
  • BPA, phthalate, and PVC-free plastic
  • Dishwasher safe

My First Impressions

The first things you notice when your Green Toys Tea Set arrives are the bright colors and attractive packaging. The cups are blue, the saucers are green, the sugar bowl is purple, the spoons are yellow, and the teapot is pink. I decided to buy a tea set with an eye on developing my toddler’s motor skills, but right away, I realized this would help her with sorting as well.

The pieces were definitely a bit smaller than I expected (even after reading the specs), but that’s for good reason—they’re made for tiny hands. And that turned out to be true. They were the perfect size for my toddler and her toys.

The Use Phase

My toddler definitely has an active imagination, and she enjoyed playing with the tea set even when the cups were empty, which is how we initially used them. But they really became a hit when we started serving real water, juice, and milk in the cups.

I would usually be hesitant to let my child drink out of a small plastic toy like that. But the best part about the Green Toys Tea Set is they prioritize safety and responsibility in their materials. As we’ve mentioned, the tea set is FDA-approved and free of the harmful materials common in many plastics.

It’s also dishwasher safe, so cleanup is a breeze even if you use something sticky like juice. Putting actual drinks in the tea set definitely takes this toy to another level.

Results

Green Toys is known for using environmentally-friendly, sustainable materials. But that certainly doesn’t mean they sacrifice quality for it. The pieces feel durable and well-crafted, and have fun colors and cool shapes that are definitely a draw for young children.

I expected this to be a fun, developmentally-friendly toy for my little one, but it was an even bigger hit than I expected. She absolutely loves getting to use her real, favorite drinks with this toy set, and Green Toys is perfect for doing so, as they are completely safe and easy to clean.

I definitely expect this to be amongst my child’s favorite toys for the foreseeable future. And best of all, when she’s playing, she’s growing. The small pieces are perfect for developing fine motor skills. And she’s already storing like with like when she cleans up.

Final Thoughts

When you’re looking for the ideal tea set, you want it to be durable and safe, with a fun design to capture your child’s attention. The Green Toys Tea Set certainly hits that mark! That’s why I give it five out of five stars.
